Today, when configuring an IPsec tunnel between a Customer Edge (CE) and a Regional Edge (RE), the XC Console requires the Remote IP Address field to be a static IPv4/IPv6 address. Hostnames/FQDNs are not accepted.
For customers operating in dynamic or cloud-native environments, static IPs are not always practical or available.
Many architectures rely on DNS-based endpoints that may change during failover, provider maintenance, or cloud edge relocation.
Without FQDN support, customers must manually update tunnel endpoints or implement automation to replace tunnel IPs whenever DNS changes, both of which introduce operational overhead and potential downtime.
